Why I Joined A Kidnapping Gang – Suspect Opens Up

In what may be considered a bizarre motive, Mr. Endurance Ebite, who was apprehended for kidnapping, has confessed that he joined a kidnapping gang in order to raise some money to start a business.

Endurance, who is from Ikebiri in Southern Ijaw area of Bayelsa State, made the confession when he and his gang members were paraded by the Police Command in the state during the week.

The suspect, who described himself as a “community boy”, claimed he was lured by his friend.

Endurance said, “My friend asked me to come see him about a business. But when I got to his house, I noticed that other friends of his also joined us. He then told the gathering that his sister was rich but stingy.

“He complained that his sister never helped him and that he was suffering a lot. He asked us to kidnap her so that we could get some money.

“We succeeded in abducting the woman and took her to a fishing camp in a village. Later, her people came with one drum of fuel and N1m to free the woman, unknown to us that they had set a trap for us. We were soon caught.

“I am regretting taking part in the crime now. That was my first time of kidnapping a person. I was influenced by my friends.”

The police said Endurance along with other suspects would be charged to court.

Photos: Could Tiwa Savage Be Considering An Adoption ??!!

Being a mother sure knows how to make you soft. Mavin Dynasty first lady, Tiwa Savage took her time to visit an orphanage in South Africa which got her all emotional as she was in tears. My Darling singer, who welcomed her first child some months back, took to Instagram to share photos of her outing and captioned it: “Today I visited an orphanage in Glenvista SA called “Door Of Hope” I think it is very important to try and sew a seed when I travel. I heard about this orphanage and how it started and I decided I had to go and do my little part to help. I don’t even know when I started crying uncontrollably. These babies are so so so beautiful, I can’t imagine how much hardship and pain these mothers must have gone through to make such a difficult decision. I also thought of where these little ones would end up if no one adopts them. šŸ’”šŸ’”šŸ’” we live in a harsh world and we judge people sometimes not knowing what their background is or what they’ve had to endure. I feel in love with their little souls, just watched some of them sleeping with their little hearts beating. God help us all create a better world for the little innocent ones”. Could she be planning on adopting a child ?

Lagos State Government Bans Sponsorship Of Pilgrimages To Mecca & Jerusalem

Lagos State government said it has finally banned state sponsorship of Muslims and Christians pilgrims who embark on pilgrimages to Mecca in Saudi Arabia or Jerusalem in Israel, saying it considered it the most irresponsible way of spending tax payers’ money.

The state Commissioner for Home Affairs, Honourable Abdulateef Abdulhakeem, disclosed this when members of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Home Affairs, led by Honourable Olayiwola Olawale, paid a visit to the ministry in furtherance of their oversight function.

Abdulhakeem said the government decided to ban the sponsorship because it amounted to injustice for certain individuals to continue to benefit from the government to the detriment of other members of the society.

The commissioner, who said part of his ministry’s mandate is the supervision of the Pilgrims Welfare Board, recalled that recently, the governor and the state executive council approved a policy for the state to stop sponsorship of pilgrimages, declaring that the step was in line with the policy thrust of the government and what the state House of Assembly also speaks to.

“In this day and time when we are talking about paucity of funds coupled with inhibiting challenges that the government has to take care of, we can no longer afford to spend the sum of one million on one single individual to go on pilgrimage when the scripture did not compel anyone to do so.

“So, it is most irresponsible way of spending tax payer’s money. That is why the government has taken a solid decision, that we will be accountable and responsible for every kobo that the tax payers pay to the government. It is an injustice for the government to be spending millions on group of people when millions of Lagosians are yearning for government’s attention,” he said.

The commissioner also disclosed that the state government had commenced the process of gathering data of religious organisations and their locations in the state, to be able to set standards, give orientation and provide security for them.

Abdulhakeem, who noted that there was a symbiotic relationship between the executive and the legislative arms of government in the state, expressed appreciation to the state House of Asembly for the quick passage of the 2016 Budget.

“Your resolution is a compulsion, it is not advisory. Even your motion that Mile 12 Market should be relocated to another area is being considered by the state government. The Ministry of Home Affairs has been restructured and some of its duties have been given to other MDAs.”

The chairman of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Home Affairs, Honourable Olayiwola Olawale, in his response, described the decision of the government as laudable, saying the House was ready to back the decision with the necessary legislation.

He stated that the visit of the committee to the ministry was homecoming, adding that the commissioner was a man of integrity, adding that the committee would work hand-in-hand with the ministry.

“The speaker of the House and other principal officers send their greetings. We are here to perform our oversight functions and we are ready to work with the ministry to achieve success.

“I commend the pro-active posture of the ministry as enumerated by the commissioner. We are happy with the steps being taken by the ministry to ensure religious harmony in the state. We will also support this with the necessary.

Dare had urged the court to dissolve his marriage blessed with three children because of his wife’s infidelity, s*x starvation and frequent fighting.

“Usually I come home late at night, but on this faithful day I decided to come home early, only for me to meet her with her boyfriend eating Tantalizers in our home.

“I was too shocked to say anything; I left them there and went out but by the time I came back the man had left.

“There was a time I went to Abuja before I came back she got into a fight and was arrested. I spent the N40, 000 I brought from Abuja on that case.”

He told the court that “my wife starves me of s*x whenever I demanded for it.

“I have to beg my wife for s*x as if she is still my girlfriend. She plays all sorts of unimaginable pranks to escape having s*x with me.

“She only comes to me for s*x when she feels like and not the other way round.

“I specifically told him to get food for me and my children from the eatery.

“My husband’s ways are questionable, he acts and talks desperately about making money at all cost.

“He keeps comparing me to his friend’s wife.

“My husband told me that his friend’s wife is an ogbanje (witch) and she uses that to bring goodluck to her husband, that I should be doing same for him, which I refused.

“He beats me up, but in spite of this I still love my husband,” Ganiyat said.

The court President, Adegboyega Omilola, ordered the couple to attend an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) on March 17.

Peoples Mega Party (PMP): Angry PDP Men Creates New Party

A new political platform believed to be packaged by fronts of aggrieved bigwigs of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has come into being.

At the National Executive Council/National retreat held by the promoters of the yet-to- be registered party, the Peoples Mega Party (PMP), the National Coordinator, Chief Perry Opara, told the delegates that the mission of the new political platform is to provide a very focused and patriotic body deviod of negative traits of impunity and confusion.

“The major people who are in the party are former members of the PDP who disenchanted by the high level of corruption, high level of impunity and high-handedness in the PDP. They have decided to form something very new and they are of the opinion that they should hand over the party to younger elements who are less corrupt and who can be able to fight for the interest of the people.”

Opara who is a close associate of the estranged PDP chieftain and former Presidential aide, Alhaji Ali Ahmed Gulak said that apart from the bigwigs from PDP, there are others from even the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC) desirous of pitching their tent with the new party.

However, Opara declined to mention names of those PDP and APC members floating the party, saying no one among them has given permission to make it open.

But that does not mean that it is only people from the PDP, there are also people from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) chapters in many states. There are people from the Labour Party and there are some disenchanted people from the ruling party.

I Love Caressing My Victims Breasts Before Robbing Them – Robber Confesses

Two robbery suspects were arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command on Monday.

They are Abdullahi Isiaka and another identified as Abel.

The duo, it was learnt used to be members of a four-man gang including Governor and Brigadier, who have since been arrested.

They were nabbed around Ijora-Badia on Monday morning, while they were going for an operation on their motorcycle.

Unfortunately for them, policemen were raiding motorcycles flouting traffic laws in that axis, leading to their arrest and the recovery of a gun.

According to the police, Isiaka usually pleasured himself by handling the breasts of his female victims before dispossessing them of their valuables.

He was said to have confessed that caressing the breasts of his female victims before robbing them made him very happy.

The suspects, it was gathered, are currently in the custody of operatives of the Federal Anti-Robbery Sqaud ( FSARS), where they disclosed their mode of operation.

It was learnt that they usually slept near the railway and during work rush hours, waylay their victims, mostly lone walkers, who they trap in their midst.

He said: “They target lone figures, put the person in their middle and rob the person. Once they get a victim, Brigadier would bring out gun and order the victim to cooperate with them.

“Isiaka targets women. Once they catch a female victim, Isiaka would start caressing her breasts. He said that caressing breasts before robbing the person used to make him feel happy.”

According to the source, Isiaka confessed that the gang once robbed a victim who had dollars, adding that he used his share of the loot to buy a motorcycle, which they used for easy escape.

“He said he used his share of the money to buy motorcycle and after that, he started his own operation with Abel.

He said they usually robbed at Ebute-Metta, Apapa, Wharf and Ikeja and that he handles the gun,” said the police source.

Nigerian Refugee Who Claimed To Be Gay Jailed For Raping Woman In Ireland

A Nigerian asylum seeker who claimed to be gay but then raped a woman has been sentenced to serve five years in prison in the Republic of Ireland.

Kenneth Udeh met the woman while she was on a night out and raped her after offering her a lift home. The rape stopped when a passer-by scared him away.

Udeh with an address at Coffee House Lane, Waterford, but originally from Nigeria pleaded guilty on the day of his trial at the Central Criminal Court to the rape of the woman in Waterford City on September 14th, 2014.

Mr Justice Patrick McCarthy noted the attack had a serious effect on the woman but also had to take into account that Udeh was a foreign national and had entered a guilty plea.

He imposed a five year sentence which he backdated to reflect the time Udeh has spent in custody

Judge McCarthy noted that the woman did not think Udeh should be allowed to remain in the country but said that was not a matter for the court to decide.
Udeh came to Ireland in 2009 and had applied for and been refused asylum twice. He is now appealing his position to the Refugee Appeals Tribunal.

Garda Catriona Savage said that the first time Udeh applied for asylum he said he was a Christian coming from a Muslim country. The second time he claimed he was a homosexual coming from a Muslim country.

In a victim impact report read to the court the woman, who cannot be named, said Udeh “violated” and took “complete advantage of her”

She said she felt like she didn’t want to live after the rape and that she had nothing to live for. It put severe pressure on her relationship with her partner and it was only through his patience and understanding that the relationship survived, she wrote.

The woman wrote that she felt Udeh has given all black men a bad name and that she was now afraid of black men. She said she won’t get into a taxi now if the driver was black.

“I feel he shouldn’t be allowed remain in the country,” the woman added in her statement.

Gda Savage told Tara Burns SC, prosecuting, that the victim, who was in her twenties, was out for the night in the city.

In the early hours of the morning she was outside a pub and got chatting to a group of men, including Udeh, who were smoking. She said goodnight to the men and was about to leave when Udeh offered her a lift home. The two then walked to where Udeh said his car was.

The woman said later that the next thing she remembered was being on the ground with Udeh on top of her with his trousers down. She shouted “stop it” and “get off me” but Udeh raped her. He did not wear a condom.

A local man was leaving work late when he saw Udeh and the woman and heard her shouts. He shouted at them causing Udeh to get up and flee. The man and a taxi driver gave chase but lost Udeh.

A female passer-by came to the aid of the victim and gardaĆ were called. They tracked down Udeh to a hostel near where the men had lost him. In interview he denied any sexual contact with the woman but this was contradicted by the forensic evidence.

Defence counsel Mary Rose Gearty SC said that he had written a “short and genuine apology” to the woman. Gda Savage said that she didn’t think the victim would accept this.

Counsel said Udeh had been in custody since the offence and submitted that his time in prison would be more difficult for him due to his race and nationality.

Court Orders Obasanjo, Yar’adua, Jonathan’s Government To Account For Stolen Funds

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former president Goodluck Jonathan and late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s government to account for all the loots they recovered during their administrations, Vanguard reports.

Delivering judgement in a Freedom of Information suit filed by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) today March 1st, the presiding judge, Justice M.B. Idris, ruled that successive governments since the return of democracy in 1999 “breached the fundamental principles of transparency and accountability for failing to disclose details about the spending of recovered stolen public funds, including on a dedicated website.”

He thereafter ordered that President Buhari “ensures that his government, and the governments of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, and former President Goodluck Jonathan account fully for all recovered loot.”.

Details ordered by the court to be made public include: information on the total amount of recovered stolen public assets by each government; the amount of recovered stolen public assets spent by each government as well as the objects of such spending and the projects on which such funds were spent.

Court orders EFCC to release Jonathan’s ex-ADC‎

Justice Yusuf Halilu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting at Jabi, has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to forthwith, release the detained former Aide de Camp to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Col. Ojogbane Adegbe, on bail.

The court directed that Col. Adegbe who has been on detention since Febraury 11, should be granted bail on “very liberal terms”, pending when a charge is filed against him.

The order followed a fundamental rights enforcement application the detainee, through his team of lawyers led by Mr. Ogwu Onoja, SAN, filed before the court.

However, Justice Halilu declined to  order the anti-graft agency to pay N100million to the applicant as compensation for his “unlawful detention”, as well as to tender a written apology to him.

The Judge said it was “unconstitutional and illegal” for the EFCC to keep the applicant in its custody without a valid charge pending against him before a court of competent jurisdiction.

He berated the Commission, saying it has reduced itself “to the police station or detention centre of the Nigerian Army”.

Besides, the court noted that the agency contradicted itself when it claimed that the applicant was being investigated over his alleged involvement in arms procurement fraud, and yet claimed that he was detained on the instruction of the Army.

“While the respondent is dancing makossa in one ‎side, it is singing another song on the other side,” Justice Yusuf stated.
Meantime, Adegbe’s lawyer, informed the court that in anticipation of the ruling, the EFCC, quickly transferred his client from its custody to that of the Army.

Five Teenagers Underwent Special Spirit Bath After s*x Rounds With Alhaji

THE police detectives attached to ‘A’ Division Police Station Warri, Delta State have arrested five female teenagers and a young lady (name withheld) for alleged s*x trade with one Burkar Hassan.

The arrest of the girls took place last week following a tip-off on their activities around Warri Motor Park during nightfall.

Mother of one of the girls, who pleaded anonymity, told Southern City News that she initiated the arrest when her daughter spent the night outside.

She said, “When I saw them, I knew that they must know about the whereabouts of my daughter who did not pass the night in my house.

“First, it was the first time my daughter, a Primary 3 pupil, did not sleep in my house. I decided to lodge a complaint to the police because we have been hearing

stories about these girls sleeping with one Alhaji for money.”

The police image maker in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest of the teenage girls and a young lady, said they confessed they were given N10, 000 each for the night, adding that the police were on the trail of the Alhaji.

There has been suspicion over the illicit s*x business and fear that it could be fetish as the teenage female s*x hawkers were subjected to special spirit bath after s*x bouts.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board has relieved the Head teacher of Ojojo Primary School in Warri South Local Government Area of the state, Mrs. Konboye Mowoe, of her position for allegedly extorting money from pupils of the school.

The Executive Chairman of the Board, Mr. Sunny Ogwu, who confirmed this to Southern City News, said the decision of the board was informed by the overwhelming evidence against the headmistress.

Ogwu said the headmistress had been directed to hand over the administration of the school to her assistant, Miss Sule Taibat, in charge of academic, with immediate effect.

While describing the action of some of the pupils who attended classes in mufti as absurd, the board chairman disclosed that on enquiry, the pupils alleged that they were not given school uniforms after they had made payments.

When asked how much they paid, they claimed they paid N1, 500 for school uniform and N2, 500 for other levies making a total of N4, 000 that the affected pupils paid to the authority of the school.

The embattled head teacher confirmed to the chairman in her explanation that the school was collecting N1, 500 from pupils for school uniform, another N1, 500 for inter-house sports and N750 per pupil as PTA levy, adding that she got authority to collect the levy from the PTA of the school.
