Let’s check out this dude- we’ll call him the ‘Uber Islander’. This guy stays on the Island (for other cities or town that means the choice places of that town or city, note that he stays not lives
on the 'Island' because this dude doesn’t actually have an abode where he resides but he’s always on the Island – Ikoyi, V/I, Lekki, Ajah - He knows everywhere worth knowing in
these areas, he knows all the
happening people in these places and seems to be friends with them all. The first snag with this seemingly perfect man is you can’t really put a finger on
what he does. Ask him what he does for a living, he tells you ‘contracts’ or ‘business’. Initially, all seems well as he
takes you out on dates and buys you stuff and the female prey is always proud to introduce him as her man; then after a very short while, the stories begin. He needs to borrow a
small amount of money from you at first for something urgently important, then the amount increases as time goes on. He claims to count on you to be able to help him in times of emergencies. If you’re not careful you’ll go into debt for this guy and I’m not even kidding.
These guys targets all sorts of girls. You don’t need to be a banker, have a business or be a high ranking executive at Airtel before you qualify.
Even if you’re still a struggling student, you’d still suffice so long as he senses you can borrow money to sustain his
fake lifestyle. He might even have a car (a Range no less) but his fuel tank is always empty and he always needs you to give him just 2000 naira at a time to buy fuel. He needs 1000 naira to buy recharge card but alas! his ATM card is spoilt (how does an ATM card spoil, I’ve always
wondered this). He invites you for dinner and tricks you into paying because he forgot his
wallet at home. He’s very creative, full of money-making ideas but unfortunately he doesn’t have the capital to make these ideas a reality so as a good girlfriend, you’re obligated
to invest in his ideas. Oh! These guys are full of ways to siphon money out of you and you, while basking in the euphoria of love keep dishing money to him until you’re in debt, broke or simply because ‘your eye don clear’.
It’s very easy to fall for this guy, he’s charming, cute and looks like a dream; which is exactly what he is – a dream.
If you’re dating this guy, you need to wake up before your dream turns into a nightmare. This Gold digging Prince Charming is in every neighbourhood.. Watch out
